In Loving Memory of Annie
Annie’s Fund
“Annie’s Fund” was established in February 2005 to assist GoldenView Veterinary Hospital with taking care of relinquished animals or injured animals brought in by Good Samaritans. Thanks to generous support from many of you, “Annie’s Fund” continues to offer options for treatment and surgery that, otherwise, would not have been available to these animals.

Ginger is a spunky, outgoing, 5 month old female rabbit. She came to GoldenView in April, 2006 with a broken leg. Her owner loved her very much, but was unable to afford her needed surgery. Ginger’s family made the difficult decision to relinquish her to GoldenView, where she underwent surgery, including leg amputation. Ginger has made a full recovery and is getting around very well and was recently adopted by a wonderful, loving family.

MR. UNO
This personable cockatiel is another beneficiary of Annie’s Fund care. After surviving a dog attack, this young bird was relinquished to GoldenView Veterinary Hospital because his caretaker could not afford the surgery he needed. Annie’s Fund was able to provide the funding necessary to save his life. In the process however, his right wing was amputated due to damage from the attack that was beyond repair. Mr. Uno isn’t a complainer though. He has been a trooper throughout his ordeal and is packing his bags to relocate to his new home—one without dogs.

A very sweet kitty named Jax came to GVH through a loving family who could not afford a surgery necessary to help him urinate properly. They made the selfless choice to relinquish Jax to GVH. He had a fantastic first year before suffering more serious health problems – mega-colon and visible neurological defects. We have loved him well.

Joey was a stray cat brought to GVH by a Good Samaritan. He had been in a cat fight and had wounds on his face and body that needed medical attention. Along with paying for Joey’s exam, the Good Samaritan donated $100 to Annie’s Fund that went toward Joey’s medical care. With that money the staff was able to clean up his wounds, administer antibiotics and anti-parasite medication. Joey stayed at GVH for a few days before he was adopted by a loving family.

A beautiful, but very pregnant, Corgi Mix was rescued by Misha May Foundation and brought in to GoldenView since the delivery was imminent. That same night, 8 beautiful puppies arrived and GoldenView, with the help of Annie’s Fund, housed and cared for all nine of them until they were old enough to be adopted to new loving homes. Our staff loved taking care of this wonderful group of fuzzy faces, so it was hard to let them go. The next time you’re looking to adopt a canine, please check out the rescued dogs available at www.mishamayfoundation.org Once again, it is through generous donations that allow us to continue helping those animals in need.

Alfie, a Quaker Parakeet, was attacked by a larger bird and brought to us in March 2009. Alfie suffered extensive damage to his upper beak and right leg. Unfortunately the owner’s could not provide the care Alfie needed, so they relinquished him to GVH. After a few surgeries and some patient care, Alfie is doing great. Although he ended up losing part of his upper beak and his right leg, he has adjusted well. He now lives with one of our nurses and another Quaker Parakeet.

Zuul is almost 4 years old. A super sweet neutered male cat, his owners relinquished him to GVH for care of significant bladder problems. Zuul has recovered well and will most likely not experience problems as long as he stays on his special (prescription) diet. We are pleased to announce that Zuul has found a new forever home!

This is Sugar Bear, a 16-year-old Chihuahua mix. After being laid off from my job of 15 years, I didn’t have the money needed to get surgery for her. I cried myself to sleep for three nights in a row. This dog was all I had left of my sister after she passed away. I couldn’t justify spending money I didn’t have on such an old dog.
However, thanks to the generosity of another animal lover and Annie’s Fund, she was able to receive dental surgery to extract eight teeth, two of which were abscessed. The swelling has gone down, she eats with her remaining good teeth and she is back walking the park every day with me. Words could never express my gratitude for the person/people that contribute to this fund. I have been involved in horse rescue and dog rescue for years. This is the first time I needed rescuing. Thank you so much.
Warmest regards,
Donna Hoffman

A rescued Greyhound, Walker, had received dental care at another clinic. Many teeth were pulled but all the roots were left, creating significant pain and infection. Dr. Kris performed dental radiographs and found and extracted 14 roots that had been left behind. The procedure required 6 hours of anesthesia. Walker is feeling much better now! This is a great illustration of the importance of full mouth radiographs, and the proper dental training Dr. Kris and each staff member has received.
In honor of National Pet Dental Health Month, “Olivia”, a 7 year old DSH, received a dental cleaning and assessment, along with full mouth dental radiographs. Olivia was surrendered to Foothills Animal Shelter and was chosen by the FAS staff to receive this procedure. GVH is committed to community service and Annie’s Fund made this possible for Olivia.
