At GoldentView Veterinary Hospital, we consider many factors during a wellness exam including oral health, special dietary needs, nutritional supplementation, weight management, early detection laboratory testing, and more. For dogs, cats, and ferrets, vaccines are an important part of wellness care and we assess exposure and risk levels individually for each pet. We offer many additional services such as microchipping your pet, performing a Genetic Health Analysis to determine your dog’s exact heritage, taking care of your birds’ grooming needs, and much more.
Annual Wellness Exams
During your annual physical exam, your veterinarian fully examines your pet and discusses vaccinations and ongoing wellness. Just like you do wellness visits with your doctor, it’s important that your pet does the same. During these visits, our team will spend time examining your pet from nose to tail and answer any questions you may have.
Vaccines contain small quantities of modified or “killed” viruses, bacteria, or other disease-causing organisms. When administered, they stimulate your pet’s immune system to produce disease-fighting cells and proteins – or antibodies- to protect against such diseases. During your pet’s wellness exam, we will make recommendations for vaccine schedules specific to their age, species, and breed.
Running labwork once yearly, year after year, allows us to establish baseline values and allows us to monitor trends over time, increasing the likelihood that we can detect disease in the earliest stages.
A microchip is a tiny device that contains unique identifying information about a pet. It is approximately the size of a grain of rice and contains a code that corresponds to the contact information of the pet owner. This allows missing cats/dogs to be returned to their rightful home as quickly as possible.
